Our holiday intensive program:

  • Is offered in the Lyneham clinic
  • Is booked in 2-week blocks during the ACT school holidays, with families attending four days per week, for 30 minutes per day
  • Is focused on achieving your goals (i.e. what you wish to gain from therapy)
  • Is designed around building long term skills that you have identified as important to your life

This service is focused on supporting you to achieve something you wish to learn or gain from therapy.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE HOLIDAY INTENSIVE?

Our holiday intensive programs are designed around evidence-based and best practice interventions for communication support needs.

At the beginning of the holiday intensive, you can expect:

  • The speech pathologist will ask you about your goals (i.e. what you want to gain from the intensive)
  • You will complete some activities to measure your progress towards your goals: this may involve recording your voice, completing a survey, or answering some questions

During following appointments, you can expect:

  • The speech pathologist will work with you to learn and have the chance to practice these strategies within a variety of types of activities, depending on your goals
  • Appointments are fast-paced and intensive
  • At the end of the intensive, you will repeat activities to measure your progress across the intensive
  • As a general rule, caregivers should expect to be active participants in all appointments, and to be taught strategies to continue to work towards goals at home
